The first Gorousuke was a samurai runaway from the Takatsuki Domain in Settsu Province. He moved to Kyoto and studied under the second generation Kiyomizu Rokubei, and in 1848 he established himself and opened his kiln on Gojozaka. Because he was extremely good at copying Shonzui, he set the name Shonzui Gorousuke and called himself Shonzui-Gama. In 1981(Showa 62), he succeeded the sixth generation Asami Gorousuke.

1987 succeeds the Gorosuke VI
2006 Exhibitions commemorating the 6th generation succession name will be held in various locations
2024 Gorosuke VI inherited the 7th generations to his eldest son Nobutsune and succeeded his retired name, Bokushou.
