九代 ⾼橋道⼋(たかはし‧どうはち)

TAKAHASHI DOUHACHI IX

Mitsushige Shuhei (born 1749), a Samurai from Ise-kameyama-han, went to Kyoto and became a pottery craftsman.

In 1767 (Meiwa 4 in edo period), he became independent at Sanjo Awata-guchi and called himself the first Takahashi Dohachi. The issue is also called “Syoufutei Kuchu.”

Later, Takahashi Dohachi II (born 1783), the “Ninnami – Kachutei – Horasanjin” moved to Gojozaka in 1811 (Bunka 8), and after that, he set up a kiln on Gojozaka until the nineteenth generation of Takahashi Dohachi, and inherited his pottery production activities for generations.

Takahashi Dohachi VIII’s second daughter, she succeeded her father’s name in June 2014 (Heisei 24), following the name of Takahashi Dohachi IX.
